Position

Reporting to the Community Planning & Development Director, the Central Florida Regional Coordinator (CFRC) will be responsible for CAIR Florida’s Orlando (Central Florida), programs, non- legal strategy, fundraising, strengthening community relationships, educating the greater community on Islam and execution of our vision and mission.

 

Responsibilities

·        Leadership & Management:

o   Ensure ongoing  program excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals .

o   Actively engage, grow and energize CAIR Florida’s Central Florida volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders. 

o   Recruit, coach, develop, and retain a  high-performance volunteer team to assist CAIR Florida’s (Central Florida) operation to include administrative help, mailings, events planning and execution, answering phones, sending emails and other office duties.

 

·        Fundraising & Communications

 

o   Expand  revenue generating and fundraising activities to  regional expansion by performing and/or arranging ; Khutbahs, Know Your Rights Trainings, Media Appearances, public speaking events, facilitating  Donor meetings, Annual Banquets, Ramadan Fundraising, Monthly Donor Program, and Endowment.

o   Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger CAIR Florida brand.

o   Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities

 

·        Strengthen Community Relations

 

o   Actively engage and energize CAIR Florida (Orlando/Central Florida) clients stake holders, share holders, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders by performing and/or coordinating Khutbahs, media appearances, and events. In essence the (CFRC) is the FACE of the CAIR Florida in the Orlando/Central Florida.

o   Actively market CAIR Florida every week at different Mosques in Central Florida by tabling, handing out CAIR Florida literature, performing/arranging Khutbahs, holding meetings, planning and executing events, performing Civil Rights screening and referral of clients to the CAIR Florida Civil Rights office.

Community Outreach & Events Coordinator (South Florida)

Position

Reporting to the CAIR Florida Community Planning & Development Director the Community Outreach & Events Coordinator (COE) is primarily responsible for coordinating all aspects of special event planning, coordination, organization and promotion; volunteer participation, including recruitment, training, supervision, and scheduling; community relations development; other administrative tasks. The COE also ensures execution of CAIR Florida’s vision and mission. 

Responsibilities

·        Schedule and coordinate community outreach events including speeches, workshops, film screenings, interfaith programs, know your rights seminars, Islam 101, youth leadership, internships, conferences, mosque open houses, monthly programs, author visits, GOTV, capital day, fundraising events and the annual banquet throughout the state.

·        Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule interns and volunteers.

·        Develop partnerships with other Muslim or civil rights organizations to increase outreach.

·        Coordinate tours and visits to see our office

·        Design, implement, and coordinator community outreach plan

·        Assist with negotiations for event contracts and book event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies and audiovisual equipment, make travel arrangements, order event signs, and oversee all details of events. Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters.

·        Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.

·        Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports for major events

·        Keep track of event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting.

·        Oversee event sponsorship program.

·        Help promote Muslim Capital Day and network with civil rights groups, maintain and keep relations with elected officials.

Advocacy Coordinator (Statewide)

CAIR Florida’s vision is to be a leading advocate for justice and mutual understanding.

CAIR Florida’s mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

 

Position:

 

Reporting to the CAIR Florida Civil Rights Director (CRD) the Advocacy Coordinator (AC) is primarily responsible for leading and executing all aspects of CAIR Florida’s proactive advocacy projects in the Advocacy Department to include: legislative agenda, political mobilization activities, and government relationships. In addition, the (AC) is responsible for maintaining the integrity of CAIR Florida’s vision and mission.   

 

Responsibilities:

 

-Responsible for Non-Legal Advocacy campaigns and projects under the direction of the CRD to achieve specific results and resolutions.

-Develop and execute strategies (in collaboration with other CAIR Florida team members) to increase the quantity, quality and impact of advocacy activities.

-Track and report on advocacy activities, including evaluating the impact of techniques to increase member engagement in advocacy and identifying and implementing best practices.

-Responsible for maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholder communities in Florida that include nonprofit organizations, federal, state and local government entities, adult educators, advocacy and faith based groups. Through these relationships the (AC) will advocate for the needs of American Muslims.

-Responsible for developing a wide range of materials in support of the CAIR Florida’s government relations agenda, such as action alerts, legislative summaries, fact sheets and reports. With this information the (AC) will develop and work with the (CRD) to create a comprehensive proactive project program that incorporates organizational values to actively participate with community based coalitions to include educational seminars, workshops and discussions programs.

-Providing neutral voter guides that clarify candidate positions and explains amendments, organize candidate forums, lead Get-Out-The-Vote Campaigns and Phone Banking, Mobilize community for Capital Day. Conduct Polls, gather data and publish studies and articles on issues relevant to the community. These efforts will be done in conjunction with allies.

-Responsible for mobilizing the community and allies on Government affairs issues effecting community including anti-sharia bill and Islamophobic comments by public officials, by coordinating activities, scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and coordinating the work of CAIR Florida throughout the state.

-Organize Annual meetings with Federal, State and Local representatives to present to them factsheets on issues of importance to the community and meet with their constituents. Connect the community by helping them visit and communicate with government leaders.

-Monitor legislation and policy activities and advise staff about relevant policy proposal and actions to analyze potential impacts, represent American Muslims in developing public policy and presenting testimony to legislatures.

-Responsible for the management and development of CAIR Florida’s interns assigned to   projects.

-Collaborate with the communications team on messaging and social media strategies, and other digital advocacy channels.

-Other duties as assigned by CRD.

 

Skills and Education Requirements:

 

To successfully perform the required duties as our Advocacy Coordinator, it is imperative that you have certain skills and personal abilities. The most significant skills are strong organizational abilities with an eye for detail and effective time management to meet important deadlines. Effective communication skills are essential. Other necessary skills that are required is the ability to grasp new concepts for quick learning, good comprehension and writing abilities, and proficiency while using computers and other necessary equipment.

 

The minimum educational qualification required is a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience or formal training.
