(TAMPA, FL, 2/15/2022) – The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida), the state’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the arrest of three men who allegedly attacked a Jewish student at an Orlando neo-Nazi gathering in January.
Media reported the arrest of “neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement (NSM) leader Burt Colucci, 45, of Kissimmee, FL and Joshua Terrell, 46, a racist skinhead from Bedford, IN, who are charged with hate crime assault, while white supremacist Jason Brown, 47, was charged with grand theft. Brown of Cape Canaveral, Fla., was accused of stealing and destroying the student’s cellphone.”

In a statement, CAIR-Florida Executive Director Imam Abdullah Jaber said:
“The presence of antisemitic, racist and Islamophobic groups in Florida is real and has real consequences. We welcome these arrests and demand that justice is served after the attack on an UCF Jewish student.
“This, yet again, reflects the growing bigotry in our nation. It’s a reminder that we must stay vigilant, hold perpetrators accountable and do what we can every single day to make Florida better, to make America better. Xenophobia is a threat to all Americans, regardless of where we stand or with whom we affiliate.”
CAIR-Florida is the State’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
