(ORLANDO, FL, 2/17/2016) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations – Florida (CAIR Florida), the state’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, in partnership with the University of Central Florida Muslim Students Association (UCF MSA), today participated in commemorating #ourthreewinners - Deah, Yusor, and Razan. Many UCF students stopped by the event and discussed the reality of Islamophobia with CAIR Florida’s staff and MSA students.

Rasha Mubarak, CAIR Florida’s Orlando Regional Director, stated: “It is most rewarding to be approached by many UCF students who are in solidarity with the Muslim community for the Islamophobia and hate crimes that they have been and are still suffering from.”

“OurThreeWinners” is a multi-organizational and community effort to perpetuate the legacy of these three exemplary American-Muslims that fell victim of a ruthless hate crime in 2015. On their Facebook page it states:

“February 10th marked one year since the tragic hate crime deaths of our beloved Deah, Yusor, and Razan - known to the world now as, "Our Three Winners."

As we mark this day, we want to honor the request of the Barakat and Abu-Salha families to not memorialize Our Three Winners but to focus on using their legacy as a way to inspire others to give back to their local communities and to be real shining examples of Islam in the world. Their memories will stay with not only their families but with the countless lives they touched with their altruistic spirit.

Over the past year, your support has enabled United Muslim Relief to work alongside the Abu-Salha and Barakat families to continue their children’s humanitarian legacy by establishing a sustainable endowment that will continue to improve countless lives, domestically and abroad.

Now it’s your turn to take part in #‎KeepingTheirLegacyAlive! We ask that you honor their legacy and the great work Deah, Yusor, and Razan have inspired in the past year by doing the following:

1. Pray for Deah, Yusor, and Razan

2. Act by doing a good deed and taking action in your local community during the month of February

3. Donate at www.OurThreeWinners.org and keep their legacy projects alive through the OTW Endowment Fund

4. Share by posting, sharing, and tweeting #KeepingTheirLegacyAlive and #‎ForwardWithFaith. Change your profile photos and Twitter and Facebook covers. To view image options, visit OurThreeWinners.org/materials.
