South Florida Muslim Organizations Donate 2,000 Meals to "The Great Thanksgiving Banquet" for the Homeless and Disadvantaged

(Miami, FL, 11/22/2016) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations - Florida (CAIR-Florida), the state's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, today announced that it has joined Friends of Humanity and the Muslim Women's Organization of South Florida in coordinating a $4,200 donation to the Broward Outreach Center. This generous contribution will cover the cost of 2,000 meals at "The Great Thanksgiving Banquet" event in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
 
Nina Corbe, Miami Rescue Mission-Broward Outreach Center Senior Community Associate and Don Cottton, Program Supervisor of the Broward Outreach Center were delighted to accept the check (see link below). The meals will be distributed to the homeless and/or disadvantaged population in South Florida during "The Great Thanksgiving Banquet" on November 24th, Thanksgiving Day.
 
Mohammed Javed Qureishi and Yunus Ismail representing Friends of Humanity International, together with Sahar Shakir and Faiqa Anwar from the Muslim Women Organization of South Florida were joined by CAIR-Florida Communications Director, Wilfredo Amr Ruiz, to represent a few of the many Muslim organizations that helped coordinate this much-needed donation.
"For the past years, we have been blessed with the opportunity to assist in the Thanksgiving meals for the homeless events. We are hoping to be able to sponsor 4,000 meals next year, doubling this year's amount," said Javed Qureishi, Friends of Humanity Chairperson.
