(TAMPA, FL, 12/5/2016) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations - Florida (CAIR-Florida), the state's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, is celebrating their successful fundraising banquets receiving record donations totaling over $1.3 million. This year's total is a product of three banquets hosted by CAIR- Florida: Orlando (October 15th - $330,000), South Florida (November 19th - $570,000), and the most recent one held in Tampa on December 3rd where a total of $435,000 was donated.
CAIR-Florida's Chief Executive Director, Hassan Shibly, welcomed the strong response from the Florida Muslim community. "The community's support for CAIR-Florida has been constantly growing despite the tense political climate in the aftermath of the elections; our donors are solidly backing our 20-strong team. The community has a resolute commitment to strengthen CAIR-Florida's resources to ensure their safety, protect their civil rights, make their voices heard, and stand up for justice."
