(Miami, FL, 5/27/2016) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations - Florida (CAIR-Florida), the state's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, proudly announced that its Communications Director, Wilfredo A. Ruiz's, name was permanently included in the Wall of Honor Memorial in Tamarac, Florida. On the Memorial Day's ceremony on May 30th, Tamarac veterans' legacy were perpetuated as part of a monument at Tamarac Veteran's Park in Southgate Boulevard, where their names were inscribed in the Wall of Honor Sculpture.
"I live proud of having served my country as a Naval Officer in two capacities, first as a JAG Corps officer and later as part of the US Navy Chaplain Candidate Officer Corps. There are thousands of American Muslims who have honorably served in our military and many other thousands presently in uniform safeguarding our Nation and our Constitution. We are grateful to the city of Tamarac for this memorial. My prayers and respect are especially with those of us who made the ultimate sacrifice."
